SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME

BSG PIECES

Battlestar Galactica is almost over. Almost. 3 more episodes and they're done. The whole frakking thing will be over. On one hand, this will mean that, sadly, one of the best drama series in the history of TV will be over. On the other hand, though, that will mean that the creators of the series didn't commit the standard mistake of allowing the series to go on for more seasons than it should, mistake that usually seriously injures (LOST anyone?) or fatally wounds the quality/fandom status of the show (Twin Peaks, X-Files, 21 Jump Street/just kidding, and many others).

Last night's episode, "Someone To Watch Over Me", was episode 19 of season 4 and it was so good it makes me wonder what are they frakking planning for the season/series finale. But, there was this scene, ahh this particular scene, that once again made so clear why this show is pure awesomness: Bear McCreary's version of "All Along The Watchtower" + the story+ teh cinematography+ Starbuck+ shocked final Cylon's (especially one eyed shocked Tigh)= EPIC WIN.

(Beware:MAJOR SPOILAGE if you haven't seen the epi)

3+1 REALLY FUNNY SKITS AND THE MOST UNISPIRED POST TITLE EVER

FLIGHT OF THE CONCORDS

Some of the best (One of these is not from a TV Show but it fits the mood perfectly so..)! And remember:

-"BINARY SOLO: 00000100010001"

#4 Human Giant, "Montana Meth", from Season 2 (2008).

(ETA: The video keeps being removed from youtube and also for some strange reason it's not even available on the official HG youtube channel where it was initially hosted when this post was published. If you can't see it it means it has been removed for the 68543th time..sorry..)

#3 The Chris Rock Show, "When animals attack in high speed chases II", from Season 1 (1997).

#2 Tegan and Sara, "Ptosis: explained by Dr. T. R. Quin", from the (2007) DVD "The Con" .

#1 Flight Of The Concords, "Robots", from Season 1 (2007).

THE COOLEST TV SHOW OPENING TITLES EVAH!

#4 Opening titles from LOST (2004) by Michael Giacchino. Could they be any more fitting to the lostness of the show?

#3 Opening titles from Twin Peaks (1990) by Angelo Badalamenti. Sweetness over serious underlying creepiness wins all.

#2 Opening titles from Dr.Who, seasons 18 to 23 (1980-1984), arranged by Peter Howell. Originally composed by Ron Grainer and arranged by Delia Derbyshire. There are so many Dr.Who's but for me Tom Baker is always going to be Dr.Who. Even if when I was little I thought he was the scariest man I ever saw and still to this day, photos of him give me the creeps..

#1 Opening titles from The Twilight Zone, seasons 2 to 5 (1960-1964) by Marius Constant. Well, for TBT it doesn't get better than this. Nothing tops Rod Serling's voice, over dolls, doors and eyeballs flying across the screen. Yay!

RADIO ON THE TV

KYLE XY

I don't know what's going on, but I sure like it! Have you noticed that the last few years TV shows feature amazing songs by a large variety of equally amazing artists? I am constantly discovering new artists or stumble upon work of my favorite musicians, that I never thought I will hear in mainstream network series. Guided by Voices in a Samantha Who? episode? Really? Watching TV and listening to music? Well, I'm in fandom heaven!

Many many songs, I cannot begin to list them! Maybe, in the future, I will do a Bow Ties mixtape with all of them! We'll see! But for the time being here are 4 songs that decided to visit while I was watching TV:

#4 From WEEDS, Season 3, "Scenic World" by Beirut. Song taken from the 2006 album "Gulag Orkestar".

BEIRUT

You can find all of the songs, from all 3 seasons of WEEDS and listen to them online, HERE. Pretty cool!

#3 From KYLE XY, Season 1, "Born on the cusp" by American Analogue Set. Song taken from the 2005 album "Set Free".

set free

You can find all of the songs, from all 3 seasons of KYLE XY, HERE.

#2 From Samantha Who?, Season 1, "I Am A Scientist" by Guided by Voices. Song taken from the 1994 EP "I Am A Scientist".

GUIDED BY VOICES

#1 From John from Cincinnati, series main titles song, "Johnny Appleseed" by Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros. Song taken by the 2001 album "Global a Go-Go".

THE DEVIL INSIDE

SAMANTHA WHO?

-"I'm sorry, but you should be happy that I didn't draw you into this web of deceit."
-"Honey, I'm an attorney, web of deceit is where I get my mail."

Hahaha..I watched in 2 days all of the Samantha who? episodes and this show is really funny! Ok, sometimes it's way too Sitcom-ey, but a) it's supposed to be that since it's..a sitcom b) when it's funny, it's LOL funny! I am so glad I found a funny show, I'm up to my ears in dramaz (BSG, LOST, CHINA BEACH, KYLE XY and not counting the ones that are on hiatus like Dexter etc) so this is a nice change!

Samantha is a girl that was hit by a car and now, has amnesia and can't remember anything about her past. So, with the help of her family and friends, she is trying to find out who she was. But, she soon discovers that she was a real bitch before the accident, so she tries to make amends for the horrible way she treated people in the past while in the same time she tries to become a good person. Of course, things don't work out so good!

In episode 8, "The car", she ruins her father's car after hitting a raccoon on the road and decides to throw the car in a lake and lie to everyone about it:

"I'm getting a latte" *stare of death*! Jennifer Esposito is so amazing! I missed comedies, so much!

"I CAN'T STAY HERE, I'VE GOTTA FIND FRED'S FINGER"

Frakking BSG

Fandomwise, it's been a great week for me. It takes 4 magic words (or 2 pairs of 2, if you prefer) to make, my poor fandom heart, beat like a drum and those are "Battlestar Galactica" and "China Beach".

I am 4 years late, but I just started watching BSG and I have to say, this show is amazing! The reason that I never got into watching it in the first place, is because I am not a big Sci-fi fan. Even though, I love Futuristic movies and Science Fiction books, when I hear about battles in space and humans in spaceships fighting wars against evil aliens or evil machines, I..feel sleepy. And I never liked Star Wars (except from Han Solo). Or, Star Trek. So, naturally I never thought BSG was the show for me. But, without any particular reason 2 weeks ago I decided to watch a random episode. The result is, I got so hooked I ended up watching season 3 and half of season 2 in 3 days!

It's such a great show! The story, the characters, the cast, even the space battles! I'm so close to say that it's better than Lost but I won't.. yet. But, it's sooo close. The cool thing is that, now, that Lost is on (a f@!$% second) hiatus, the fourth and final season of BSG has just started, so, hurray for me (and my poor fandom heart)!! If you are like me before I got a BSGaddiction and you have never watched BSG, here are all 3 seasons in 8 minutes (full of spoilers, of course):

In other fandom news, I started watching "China Beach" again after I don't know, 10-15 years maybe? I used to love this show when I was a kid (yes as a kid I used to love a show about the Vietnam War)!

China Beach

Of course, it's not half as good as I remember it, but being able to watch it again makes me so happy! Hmm, for the time being, though, that's the only thing about it, that makes me happy, because actually watching the show makes me sad (it's probably because I've started watching season 4 which is really sucky, I have to go back to season 1)..

Anyway, there are very few internet resources about this series, but here is a clip of the titles: China Beach title theme song.
